The wisest of magicians when called upon to affect the lives of others, never utter curses. For they understand the danger of curses. Instead they use the power of blessings to their advantage.

People think that blessings are always used for good. Remembering the Universe is morally neutral. A blessing can be designed in such a way to achieve both positive and negative ends, but without the result of a binding.

The corruption of a blessing is the emphasis upon what is hoped to come. If it is rain, the emphasis is on lots of rain (flood). If it is the joy of birth it is extending the birth process (pain of birth). If it is success, it is abundant success (boom and bust).

To many, such subtle claims regarding blessings seem too semantic to be real magic. Yet understanding how the universe works explains much of why this subtlety is the most powerful method of spells. For the words are always combined with intent. So an evil mind, combined with holy words produces a wholly corrupted outcome.
